We had a little birthday celebration at Austin's moms house. It was so sweet of them to have us over for dinner to celebrate one of both mine and Chase's best friends birthdays! A few pics from this old guys birthday!

Facelift

Well the blog has finally gotten a facelift and I'm lovin it!!  It has taken me so long to poke through this site and figure out all of this high tech mess (never thought I'd be saying that, I sound like my dad messing with his iPhone)  I've had a couple moments when I wanted to throw the computer across the room but I've stood my ground and happily have a beautiful blog and a computer in one piece.  yay!  Hope ya'll like the new look!

Fall

September 22, 2012.  The first day of Fall and I am SO excited.  Fall is my favorite time of year.  You can wear sweatshirts and nike shorts and be comfortable.  Fall also marks my favorite holiday, Thanksgiving, which is also my birthday this year!  Some reasons I love fall...

outfits like this:

Front porches like this:

 Trees with these beautiful leaves:

You will find me around town in an outfit like this every day of the week unless I'm headed to or from work in that case I'll be rocking my favorite outfit of all, scrubs

Boots are my FAVORITE part of fall.  I'm really wanting a new pair of nice boots but can't decide on which ones to go with.  I've been sporting my favorite Steve Madden ones for far too long, I think it's finally time for an upgrade.  The past couple of days that I have left work it has been chilly out - which has gotten me so excited for the colder weather.  Happy Fall ya'll!!!

Bundles of Joy

As if this didn't make me feel old.  How do you think seeing my oldest childhood friend with TWINS made me feel?  I still really don't know if I believe it.  I can remember Sam living across the street from me all of my childhood days.  We spent most of our time in Nanny's (Sam's grandmother) utility room playing dolls and school.  Now, some may say utility room screams child abuse, but no, this was no average utility room.  It was huge, just big enough for all of our baby dolls and school supplies.  Nanny was our principle and always punished our ill behaved children.  We reminisced the old days while holding her baby girls.  I used to walk across the street every Saturday morning in my pajamas and crawl into bed and watch cartoons with Nanny and Sam.  Now those were the days, NO cares in the world, who walks around the neighborhood in their pajamas anyway??  Well Sam married about a year before Chase and I and was blessed with 2 baby girls about 2 months ago.  How amazing is that??  Not only does it make me feel old that we are even allowed to have children but she has TWO children.  TWO.  I know she had them at the same time, so she kind of had no choice, but come on, if I had 2 kids right now I'd be a total basket case.  I can tell Sam is the best mom ever though, she is SO laid back and would just hand off those sweet newborns to anyone.  I really hope one day I can be a laid back momma just like her!  Meet these precious bundles of joy...

Mom decided she was better off with just one at a time

Thank you so much for letting me love on your sweet baby girls!

Half Anniversary

You know some people celebrate their half birthdays?  Well, same concept.  If you read below, we celebrated our half anniversary!  One of our favorite restaurants in Fort Worth is Simply Fondue, so I decided to bring it to us.  (Minus the appetizers and main course, for that we relied on Outback - fancy I know haha)  I surprised Chase with a surplus of yummies that we could dip in our chocolate.  It was so fun.  And the first time we have used our fondue maker.  It works like a CHARM.  For those of you who like fondue, you should definitely go buy one.  The chocolate was super easy to make.  We started out with just good ol milk chocolate and once we had a few dips of that we spiced it up with reeses, making it peanut buttery chocolatey goodness.  It's fair to say we were both STUFFED.  I loved Chase's response to every bite he took, I really wish I had it on camera.  He just laughed after every single bite because it was so delish.  Fondue night was a huge success!

headed to dinner celebrating our 1/2 anniversary

our amazing set up!  Chase suggested paper plates I didn't want to do dishes so we rounded up these fancy plates.  Disclaimer**  We did NOT finish all of these sweets.  As much as Chase would have liked to, it was impossible.

First up, our favorite - a banana!

happy 1/2 a YEAR anniversary to my favorite hubby!

Yep, that's right!  1/2 a year.  I celebrate it.  Don't be confused by the title, no sister wives going on here but if I did have more than one hubs, he'd still be my favorite!  We're celebrating with dinner out and dessert at home in our fondue maker!  YAY!  First time to use it, I'll let ya know how that turns out!!  Can't wait to spend many more 1/2 years with you:)

pinterest projects

I'm a HUGE lover of pinterest.  My house was basically created around pinterest.  It seriously wouldn't look the same without it.  I'm also a huge crafter so I get tons of craft ideas off there also.  Here are just a few of my recent pinterest findings...

I wanted our door to be welcoming so I found this wreath on pinterest

And this is how mine turned out!  I'm not much for the sticky/woody theme so I wrapped my wreath in cream yarn.  I got all the supplies at Hobby Lobby except the numbers.  Those came from Home Depot, I wanted them to match our door knob, knocker, and numbers above our garage.

This was a HUGE change for me.  I have been wanting to ombre my hair for quite sometime and I finally decided to go for it.  I wanted it to be obviously ombre, not just look like highlights - that mistake gets made too often.  These are the 2 pictures I showed my hair dresser.  I told her I completely trusted her and to do whatever color scheme she thought would look best. (I've been using her since the 7th grade - I can't imagine the day she retires.  We'll have a serious issue on our hands)

And ta-da!  This is how it turned out!  I LOVE IT!  I do realize I look mighty horrified in the left picture.  I have on no make up and was slightly shocked.  I never take mirror pics but my sisters wanted to see it, so I went for it.  She told me she had to do it a little darker because after a couple of washes it would fade.  Well she was correct!  The right picture is after I got my hands on it.  A good shampooing to get all those products out and a much more appealing style for yours truly.

My last recent pinterest find was the top knot.  I've been wanting to sport a top knot since they became popular and finally had the perfect occasion to do so.  Left is the picture I found on pinterest.  It was super fast and easy.  I highly recommend it for a wedding, engagement party, or formal event.  I got tons of compliments and it stayed in perfectly all night.  No worrying about your hair falling while busting mad moves.

It's a sad world after all

Well, today was the day.  One of the worst days of my life.  The day I realized...I am actually a grown up and not a college student.  and it was TERRIBLE, to say the least.  I guess I really haven't realized it yet because I actually enjoy my job.  I love what I do, I love cuddling babies, and I love my co-workers.  It didn't seem that bad growing up until this treacherous today.  And here is the reason - today marked TCU, my alma maters first football game of the year.  The first home football game I have missed in 5 straight seasons (yes, that's correct..5..I was one of the lucky ones who got an extra football season because I took an extra lap in college, making my college experience 5 years instead of 4.)  Some may say staying in school an extra year/semester is awful but I looked on the bright side.  Exhibit A:  One extra football season, still on the parents payroll, no real world job or bills, off on weekends, and still on the parents payroll - did I already say that one?  I woke up from a long day of work around 5:00 pm (for those of you who don't know, I work nights) I got ready for work, sat on the couch, and watched as much TCU football as I could get in before having to leave for work again.  It wasn't that bad until I started receiving pictures such as these from family and friends that were lucky enough to go to the game...

These are just 4 of the many pictures I received via text or saw on facebook.  It hit me.  I wasn't at the first TCU football game of the season, instead, I was sitting in my car crying in the parking lot of WORK.  I'm no longer a college student with no cares in the world, I'm a big girl.  How terrible is that?  Yeah - I'm officially an adult.  I came in and told my co-workers my sob story.  One of them even shed a few tears with me.  (See, don't I have great co-workers?)  Some things I don't like about growing up...
  • No more TCU football every Saturday night unless I'm off that weekend.
  • Bills, bills, bills
  • Being responsible
  • It's no longer acceptable to day drink, go out on Thursday nights, sleep until noon, or wear nike shorts and tshirts everywhere although I'm still guilty of this
I realize I may be a little dramatic about this, maybe.  But I miss my college friends like crazyyyy.  We're all in totally different parts of our lives living all over the world.  Literally.  Shannon, one of my best friends lives in Australia now.  I can't wake up to 3 of my best friends and go grab lunch and shop on our parents dime anymore.  It's a totally different world.

Although I miss my old college life and act like I'm dyinggg about growing up, I do ADORE where I am in my life now.  I love my hubby, I love our two beautiful baby girls (dogs), I love my job, and I love getting to relive our college days every once in a while.  I am so thankful for having the most amazing college experience ever and having the ability to do everything I got to do my 5 years in school.  I have amazing parents who provided for me the best 5 years of my life.  We all have to grow up sooner or later I guess.

My dad once told me that college was the best 4 years of his life.  I then replied with, "even better than the day I was born?"  and guess what his response was, yes.  HAH!  I was so offended.  But now I know what he means.  I will cherish my college years forever, and one day will tell my children that college was the best 5 years of my life.

Let's relive a few of my favorite college memories through pictures...

The day I found out I was a Chi Omega.  I made the best friends ever in my sorority and am so blessed for that!

 Theme parties galore!

TCU football games and tailgates

Trips around the world

Graduation

and some classics...

Disclaimer: that is not drunken pee, that's drunken puddle water seen behind me in the picture that I had just taken a dive into.  (also another thing you can't do as an adult)

and NFL begins

Wednesday night marked the Cowboys first "real" game as I call it, which meant a much needed get together was in order.  Chase kindly planned a party for all of his guy friends thinking I was going to be working butttt I had the night off, lucky me!  Thus created - football party at the Luce's.  I wasn't too upset about it because it gave me a great excuse to make some cute football appetizers!  and the Cowboy's pulled off a win against the Giants.

 our crew, minus a few

my handsome hubby and me cheering for the 'boys

our football appetizers

how cute is this 7 layer dip - thanks pinterest!

I'm SO annoyed excited football season has started and Chase is glued to the TV due to his fantasy football teams.  If he can win us the big money in both of his leagues, I'll stop complaining!
