It's a sad world after all

Well, today was the day.  One of the worst days of my life.  The day I realized...I am actually a grown up and not a college student.  and it was TERRIBLE, to say the least.  I guess I really haven't realized it yet because I actually enjoy my job.  I love what I do, I love cuddling babies, and I love my co-workers.  It didn't seem that bad growing up until this treacherous today.  And here is the reason - today marked TCU, my alma maters first football game of the year.  The first home football game I have missed in 5 straight seasons (yes, that's correct..5..I was one of the lucky ones who got an extra football season because I took an extra lap in college, making my college experience 5 years instead of 4.)  Some may say staying in school an extra year/semester is awful but I looked on the bright side.  Exhibit A:  One extra football season, still on the parents payroll, no real world job or bills, off on weekends, and still on the parents payroll - did I already say that one?  I woke up from a long day of work around 5:00 pm (for those of you who don't know, I work nights) I got ready for work, sat on the couch, and watched as much TCU football as I could get in before having to leave for work again.  It wasn't that bad until I started receiving pictures such as these from family and friends that were lucky enough to go to the game...

These are just 4 of the many pictures I received via text or saw on facebook.  It hit me.  I wasn't at the first TCU football game of the season, instead, I was sitting in my car crying in the parking lot of WORK.  I'm no longer a college student with no cares in the world, I'm a big girl.  How terrible is that?  Yeah - I'm officially an adult.  I came in and told my co-workers my sob story.  One of them even shed a few tears with me.  (See, don't I have great co-workers?)  Some things I don't like about growing up...
  • No more TCU football every Saturday night unless I'm off that weekend.
  • Bills, bills, bills
  • Being responsible
  • It's no longer acceptable to day drink, go out on Thursday nights, sleep until noon, or wear nike shorts and tshirts everywhere although I'm still guilty of this
I realize I may be a little dramatic about this, maybe.  But I miss my college friends like crazyyyy.  We're all in totally different parts of our lives living all over the world.  Literally.  Shannon, one of my best friends lives in Australia now.  I can't wake up to 3 of my best friends and go grab lunch and shop on our parents dime anymore.  It's a totally different world.

Although I miss my old college life and act like I'm dyinggg about growing up, I do ADORE where I am in my life now.  I love my hubby, I love our two beautiful baby girls (dogs), I love my job, and I love getting to relive our college days every once in a while.  I am so thankful for having the most amazing college experience ever and having the ability to do everything I got to do my 5 years in school.  I have amazing parents who provided for me the best 5 years of my life.  We all have to grow up sooner or later I guess.

My dad once told me that college was the best 4 years of his life.  I then replied with, "even better than the day I was born?"  and guess what his response was, yes.  HAH!  I was so offended.  But now I know what he means.  I will cherish my college years forever, and one day will tell my children that college was the best 5 years of my life.

Let's relive a few of my favorite college memories through pictures...

The day I found out I was a Chi Omega.  I made the best friends ever in my sorority and am so blessed for that!

 Theme parties galore!

and some classics...

Disclaimer: that is not drunken pee, that's drunken puddle water seen behind me in the picture that I had just taken a dive into.  (also another thing you can't do as an adult)
xoxo,
Lace
