A look into my career...

So, since I got this wonderful idea to start blogging while at work, I thought I should do my first post about my job, fitting right?  I've loved babies since I can remember.  I used to beg my mom to have another or at least adopt one for ME, I was 5 and could totally handle a kid, duh.  So, no surprise when I became an obstetric nurse.  For those of you who don't do big words, that would be the nurses that take care of momma and/or baby before, during and after birth!  And I LOVE LOVE LOVE it.  It's my absolute passion.  I'm very blessed to have found this career path.  Not many people these days truly love their jobs.  Not only do I love what I do, but I love the people I work with. They have all become more than coworkers but true friends.  I can honestly say we have the best crew of L&D, nursery, and post partum nurses around.  We'll treat ya like family.  I am excited to go to work every night when there are only healthy babies and moms that don't stay on the call light every 5 minutes.  Chase sometimes worries I'll steal them.  I'm not that crazy, but I will sit in the nursery and rock, spoil and love on them them all night long while their mothers sleep.  What can I say, it's my job?  When your baby goes home with lap colic I sincerely apologize.  Living in a small town I see people I know all the time.  I love taking care of my friends and families babies in the nursery.  It's so rewarding spending that first special moment with them and giving them some TLC, so needless to say, come see me if you're having a baby!  I promise to give you the royal treatment!

I was SO proud to finally have RN, BSN on my badge.  The NCLEX is no fun!

Graduated from sorority shirts to appliqué work shirts..it's a hard world growing up

This is such a special picture to me.  This is my nephew in Memorial nursery before I became a nurse.  Little did I know I would be in that very nursery a year later taking care of sweet babies like him!  I can't wait for the newest arrival in December (his sister or brother, they're not finding out..HOW FUN) so I will get to be his/her nurse!!

 My first pink scrub jacket!

What I do when we're not slamming busy, make my sweet baby girls bows!

I upgraded my bows to precious bow caps.  I also got addicted to coffee when I started working.

Well, that's my job in a nutshell!  Although I make it sound very glamorous, we do get sick babies every now and then and that's when I don't like my job.  Although it's rewarding when they pull through, the getting there part is super scary.
